I was thinking this morning, it’s time for a nice vacation. Then I ran across a site called “WeNeedaVacation.com”.
This is a WAY cool website. Presently, it offers vacation planning for both Florida and Cape Cod. We really, really want to go to Florida (to see Kayti… and to swim at Clearwater Beach again!). When we went to FL the first time, we had an awful time finding decent accommodations. I searched for hours! We finally stayed at a hotel that wasn’t “bad”, but we’d have much rather gotten a house or condo so we could really relax! If we’d known about WeNeedaVacation.com, we could have booked a house directly with the owner.
Signup is very easy – just put in your name and email and the site gives you immediate access. Finding a property’s easy, too. The site takes you through a few steps where you fill in the number of people, the price you’re willing to pay, dates of travel, and amenities. It takes all of two minutes to do, and then a list of properties comes up (if none do, start removing amenities. The site seems to search on “all” – for example, deck AND dishwasher AND pool AND tennis, but excludes deck, dishwasher and pool if there’s no tennis.)
I very quickly found a nice looking beach house in our price range. Listen to this: Imagine lounging in your hot tub while watching another spectacular Florida Gulf Coast sunset. In your hand, a glass of wine poured from the complimentary bottle that awaited your arrival. On the patio table are fresh flowers and candles whose flames flicker in the breeze. OK… I’m there!
The site has some unique features. For example, there are tools where you can send your vacation plans to anyone you like… perfect for planning a family or friends vacation. You can also pre-select some properties you’d like to consider seriously, and even vote on them or share comments and thoughts with other members.
WeNeedaVacation.com also has new tools – including video. Since this is a new feature, only a few of the homes have it – but since it’s SUCH an effective tool, it won’t be long before all the homes have video.
I just don’t know if I could stand it… watching video of the sea oats waving on the beach, and me not there!
(Guess that’s the point, huh?)
