We’ve got an interesting day planned! In a minute I need to get up from here and start getting ready. Our church has been invited to another church’s homecoming celebration. The church we’re visiting has kind of been through the wringer over the past few years and is now back on the upswing. We met their pastor and his wife when we were doing a hospital visitation and fell in love – Phil and Marie are two of the sweetest people we’ve ever met!! We had a sense that we’re supposed to be working with them in some way. Not sure how yet – but I’m trusting that the Lord will show us! :)

After that I think we’ll come home and crash – yesterday plum wore us OUT! We cleaned house yesterday morning – it’s become our Saturday AM ritual to do the “heavy” housework so that it’s clean for Sunday services. We did it anyway, even though we’re not having church here this week! Then we went off looking for a car for Kayti. Found one – and we think she’ll love it – all the way over in Rural Hall. On the way back we stopped at the home of a family over in Clemmons – they saw Ken’s ad for the food bank donations and offered to give us some. They did – several HUGE bags of frozen meats, and several more of canned goods, pastas, and the like. I thank God for them. We were able to put some frozen meats in the hands of a family who hasn’t eaten meat in about two weeks. God is SO good!! Then we stopped and looked at another car (we hadn’t settled for sure on the Rural Hall one), picked up the vehicle we’d left in Greensboro the day before, and delivered the food. By the time we were done it was past 8:30. Poor Ken hadn’t eaten since before noon when we had a sandwich!! We’ve GOT to be more careful with that. His blood sugar was so low he was thinking he should go to the ER (but of course he didn’t tell me that). When he finally did eat, he got sick on his stomach so we came home and went to bed.

My goal for this week is to get the food bank more organized, and to visit some families in the area who I know are likely to be in need and find out how we can best help. Food? Transportation? Linking them to established services? A lot of families in Level Cross would be helped by Social Services or agencies like Christians United Outreach or Salvation Army – except that all of the above require an in-person visit to their offices. Impossible if you have no car and no one will take you without cash money for gas. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to help with some of those issues… and introduce some folks to Jesus along the way :) Pray for us!
