I did the OAMC thing last week and ended up so exhausted and sick of food, I made Ken take me out for dinner! :)

I didn’t get quite as much done as I wanted, but it’s all good.

Tonight’s dinner: I took a bag of cooked ground meat (combo turkey, sausage, and venison) and stuck it in the crock pot with 2 cans of diced tomatoes and 2 cans of kidney beans. It’s simmering on low all day.

We’ll have it with leftover tortilla chips from yesterday’s after-church lunch meeting at Chili’s.

Tomorrow’s E-Z dinner will be leftover chili in soft tacos with lettuce, tomato, and cheese.

I love meals I don’t have to think about!

Sounds good. I did beef stew in the crockpot yesterday with onions, mushrooms, leeks, turnips (first time for both of us, and Mike didn’t gag on them), tomatoes, and served it with roasted sweet potatoes.

Went up the market very early Saturday morning and came back with so much fruit and veg for £7 that I couldn’t carry it on my own. They sell everything by the £1 bowl. That would’ve cost me £20-25 in a supermarket.

Thinking of lasagne tonight; haven’t had that for a while. Got a small pack of organic steak mince and lots of veg (again – onions, mushrooms, tinned toms, courgettes), plenty of milk for the white sauce and some sour cream I can put in, plus I can take leftovers to work for lunches for the next couple of days. May also make an apple & pear & maple syrup crumble to go wth ice-cream.

Tried Asian pears for the first time – very different texture to English pears. Kind of like a light crisp juicy yellow apple but less sweet – more like a watermelon, very subtle flavour. Very nice. Will shove a couple in a veg curry Thursday. I aim to try a different ingredient each time I shop – we don’t like everything I try (karella/bitter gourd springs to mind), but usually we find something we can incorporate for the future. This is my fave time of year vegwise – all those gorgeous root veg.

I got my honorarium and could go grocery shopping right now, except that I haven’t been home when the stores are still open for about two weeks. We have nothing in the fridge but milk and some grapes that have changed food groups. There were channa wraps at strike HQ today–like, an INSANE number of channa wraps–so I brought a pile home for Will and me.
