Fried okra packs it back on fast!

But oh, it was good!! :::cries:::

Still haven’t made it to WalMart for a measuring tape. I’m afraid to go in for “just one thing” — it’d probably cost me a hundred bucks.

You eat that slimy stuff? Ick!

Ahh, but therein lies the secret. If you fry okra correctly, there is NO slime.

Even if you cook it (like with tomatoes) if you do it right, it’s not all slimy like you think.

    I LOVE okra.

I’ve only ever had okra with goat curry at a Jamaican restaurant. They sell it in loads of places round here though. What’s the best way to cook it? I’m always on the lookout for veg that Mike and I can eat together because he’s so fussy about veg.

Jules, it’s fabulous in soup; it’s the “gum” in gumbo. I just packed my grimoire, but I believe that if you add it to boiling chicken stock with a red pepper, a few cloves of garlic, diced tomatoes, some shrimp or chicken, a few turns of pepper, and a bit of basmati rice, and wait just until everything is cooked through, it turns into concentrated awesome.

    Yum – I’ll give that a go:)
