Isic
We first heard about ISIC when we took Kayti to college. When I booked the train tickets, the agent asked me if she had one. We didn’t get one at the time, but might get her one as a gift in the future.

The International Student Identity Card is not just a great ID card, it’s a powerful tool for getting discounts at all sorts of places students need discounts at – shopping, travel, movies, food – you name it!

With discounts available at stores like Macys, travel tickets on JetBlue and Amtrak, and hotels like Motel 6, who can go wrong? If you’re in the Greensboro area, you can even get discounted tickets at Wet & Wild Emerald Pointe, our local water park. In the UK, discounts are available for a variety of hoteliers, retailers, restaurants, gyms, car rental agents, and even the Scottish Opera.

The card costs just $22 and gives you discounts like these:

$22 gets you discounts like…

- 11 percent off at Macy’s
- Cheap student flights at STA Travel
- 15 percent off Amtrak
- 11 percent off Jetblue
- 50 percent off at Park ‘n Fly
- 10 percent off Target.com
- $13 menu at Hard Rock Cafe

You can also get a similar card if you are under 26 or a teacher/faculty member.

Hey, I’ve never heard of these cards?! And I’m not sure, but I don’t think my girls have either.

Pretty sure they’d both qualify…they’re both taking classes at the moment, and they’re both teaching. I’ll have to look into this.

    Thanks Kathi!

I had one in 2004. It was great help when I went to Ireland, and was doing all sorts of hostel and backpacker stuff.

They let you use just about any picture where your face is clear, too. A lot of people looked at my card and went, “Oooh, cheeky!”

Goodness me, are these still around? We had them in the mid-Eighties, and you could get a month’s unlimited rail travel round Europe for £100!

So my youngest had one when she studied in Australia, but didn’t realize she could get discounts over here. And my oldest has never even heard of it, after nearly 6 yrs of college.

Amazing how many things they don’t tell you about.
