In an insane anti-Tebow rant, op-ed columnist Rabbi Joshua Hammerman (The Jewish Week) said the following:

“Unlike some other blue-staters, I do not fear people of faith. I fear people of certainty. The worldwide struggle going on right now is not between good and evil, but between certainty and doubt. It cuts across denominational lines: Progressive and Modern Orthodox Jews lie on one side of the divide, joining mainline Christians and moderate Muslims; and those on the other side are also Jews, Christians and Muslims; the people of certainty.”

“faith” and “doubt” are mutually exclusive, Rabbi… People of faith are NOT people of doubt.

“certainty” and “doubt” are much better words to use, and I agree with you… the struggle IS between certainty and doubt; and yet it’s also between certainties. To be certain is not necessarily to be right. Some use that certainty to enhance a culture of death, and in doing so, they partner with those who are of doubt. Both grow the culture of death from opposite ends of the stick, but it is the same stick.

Others use that certainty to create a culture of life that destroys death and darkness.

The question is this (always this) – which do you prefer?

Want some breakfast? Better than oatmeal. Better than all-you-can-eat pancakes, even.  I posted the verse on Facebook a little while ago but really wanted to go ahead and post the ingredient list to go along with it… so that people would know the raw organic yummy goodness of the Word.

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 2 Peter 1:3,4 ESV

WAIT – Does it really say THAT?

Yes, it really does say that. Let’s break it down:

His divine power [by executive order upon the HIGHEST authority]

has granted [given - and a grant is not something which must be repaid]

to us [that'd be God's children - me, and I hope you too]

all things [all... it really does mean ALL]

that pertain to life and godliness, [no evil here - Daddy gives good gifts to His kids! Do you need something for life? Do you need something to live godly? It's all there for you!]

through the knowledge [knowing... really, really knowing... intimate knowing... a similar word was used in the Septuagint in Genesis when it says "Adam KNEW Eve"]

of Him [oh GLORY He is AWESOME - we're talking about the Creator of all things - He who is worthy worthy worthy holy holy HOLY]

who called us [yes, us... all of us... many are called, few choose to be chosen]

to His own glory and excellence, [oh MY does it really say that, yes it does - we are called to His glory and His excellence - His glory and excellence are a part of our inheritance in Christ!! (Since this is a big pill for most Christians to swallow, see also Romans 8:17 and John 17:22)

by which He has granted to us [granted - not loaned with expectation of repayment, nor given based upon performance]

His precious and very great promises, [what has God promised? Every promise is yes! and amen! (2 Cor 1:20). Every precious promise. Ours.]

so that through them [through the EXPERIENCE of the promises... through the RECEIPT of their fulfillment]

you may become partakers of the divine nature, [:boom: there it is. koin?nos - a partner, associate, comrade, companion, or sharer in anything. God wants us to eat of Him - and become His partners - His co-laborers - His associates - His comrades - His friends - His companions - the ones He shares all things with - His sons. The ones who are like Him.]

having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. [Think you're a sinner saved by grace? Think again - it's simply untrue. Jesus provides the avenue of escape - full escape - from the corruption of sin. Think of it this way - you were a prisoner, rotting away in a jail cell. The judge pardons you and totally nullifies your sentence: you are freed. Do you spend the rest of your life calling yourself a prisoner? That would be absurd - so why, if you're saved and freed from the bondage of sin, do you still call yourself a sinner?]

He is so good – and He wants to share that goodness with you – and He wants you to share that goodness with others – isn’t that the most glorious thing you’ve ever heard?

I used to post a “goals for the day” here just about every day… and post content often… these days I don’t blog much. But that’s about to change.

My goal for the week: Blog! Hot-doggety-blog!

Also this week – I need to duplicate CD’s – do a CD mailing – clean the refrigerator – pay bills – go grocery shopping – deliver Avon orders – make a Thanksgiving menu – get ready for the conference this coming weekend (all systems on “automate”) – get the photocopier fixed – install ink or toner in everything that prints – finish getting the upstairs ready for guests – get heat installed up there – plastic some windows and install weatherstripping – organize the massive pile of papers that is threatening to fall off my desk – and that’s just the beginning of it!

WHAT IF we give up this notion that the Way is a set of beliefs we must agree with and works we must do,
and WHAT IF we reject the lie that Truth is a set of concepts we must adhere to,
And WHAT IF we destroy the false belief that life is a number of days that begins with birth and ends with death…

WHAT IF, instead, we embrace the radical truth that the Way is a PersonTruth is a Person …  LIFE is a Person …  His name is Jesus.

I was doing some routine maintenance on my assorted sites the other day. On a whim, I pulled the stats for this blog… and was amazed.

The first thing I noticed is that it’s getting a lot more human traffic than I’d realized.

Curious, I pulled the list of search terms that have led people to this site. The list was pretty impressive, and included things one might expect (Jesus, healing, revival) and a few things you just have to wonder about (“Why am I craving oatmeal?”).

I consolidated the list, and here it is:

KINGDOM THEOLOGY and REVIVAL: Kingdom now theology… dominionism… manifest sons of God … occupy until I come… the power of words… momentum in the Kingdom… five-fold ministry… spiritual gifts (especially prophecy) … I AM… Bible… historical revivals… revivalists… laid down lovers… alignment, covering, covenant …

HEALING: Jesus healed (or will heal) me of various diseases… healing is in the atonement… why are some people not healed …
how to pray for healing and deliverance … different healing ministries … the ministry of sozo…

ESCHATOLOGY: is there a falling away? Is there a rapture? What about end-time revival? And so on…

BETHEL: Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton, their theology, the books they’ve written, and the people they associate with

WORSHIP:  song lyrics, dance and worship tools

HERESY: Lots of folks end up here looking for heresy-hunter information and end up with a good dose of Biblical truth. Quite a few are searching for evidence that kenosis is a heresy.

JAMAICA: Especially pictures.

POVERTY: Again, especially pictures.

JOHN BAPTIST: apparently John as a wild man is a common interest.

TODD BENTLEY: Todd gets his own line-item on the list; my articles about Lakeland, revival, and restoration are apparently incredibly popular even a couple years later.

This helps me – not just with the consolidation, but also with future articles. I’ve gotten several words lately that indicate that it’s time to write… :)

I'm a laid-down lover of Jesus Christ. I write about my King and His Kingdom, the Bible, revival, healing, prophecy, faith, and more... plus I throw in recipes, tips, news and politics items, reviews, and all sorts of random things just for fun. Until recently, I was known as "Kathi"... but my name is now Kay. It's a good, God thing... :) The opinions expressed in this blog are mine and mine only - not necessarily shared by my husband, our church, my employers, or anyone else.
