Social Spark

Spark!

SocialSpark is a sort-of-like Pay Per Post on steroids. PPP’s premise was, “find an advertiser, and if you and they are compatible, write about their stuff. Get paid.” In fact, PPP is paying me to write this bit on Social Spark (same folks run both sites). Kind of cool, eh?

Social Spark’s for-public website is good. The only thing I’d change is the light gray background. Makes it hard to read. Once you get signed up (EASY) and logged in, the site is very, very busy. Lots of stuff, including stuff that moves. I know it’s cool to have Flash and all, but come on, guys… it’s not that cool.

Other than those minor annoyances, SS is a rather good way for bloggers to make a few extra bucks (no one’s getting rich off this but it does pay the hosting fees and then some). It’s a great way for advertisers to promote their stuff, too. Social Spark has a code of ethics requiring bloggers to disclose that they’re being paid, bloggers may only post on things they know, everyone sees what everyone’s doing, and MOST IMPORTANT, posting with Social Spark won’t trash your google pagerank because they use nofollow in their links. Awesome!

I haven’t really done much lately with either PPP or Social Spark, but I plan to. You should too! If you’re interested in Social Spark, just sign up from their main page.

Whenever I click any of my internal links, I get a blank pop-up for something called Social Spark. Now, I know that SS is tied to Izea, which is tied to Pay Per Post… but I’m at a loss as to how I managed to get this blank pop-up appearing.

First of all, does the blog do that to anyone else? And has anyone encountered this?

Thanks :)

I’m excited.

Pay Per Post works like this: You write the post/review/whatever and submit it. They take a few days to consider it, and then you wait 30 days. They review it again (to make sure it’s unchanged, legit, you’re not writing posts getting paid then deleting them). Then you get paid.

I’d figured that it would be a while before I heard anything on my first posts… but I just got an email saying one’s been approved. YAY! :D

Get paid to blog? Are you kidding?

Nope, not kidding… it’s no joke! You can get paid (and paid well!) to blog these days.

I kept seeing references to Pay Per Post on several Pneumabloggers’ sites, and I wondered, “Hmmmm… what is this?” After reading up on it, I decided to add it to my online money-making repertoire. (Which also includes Adsense and Associated Content)

The premise of PPP is simple: sign up your blog, then write posts on targeted topics. Get paid.

There are certain requirements for bloggers that want to sign up. For example, your blog must be more than 90 days old, have a certain number of posts, and have accessible archives. Your blog must go through an approval process that takes several days.

Once you are approved, you add a simple line of code to your blog (for WordPress, it goes in the footer). This code helps PPP track information about your blog. Then, you can review and accept offers.

Offers come in several types – many want you to write a text review on a product or subject. Others want short audio or video clips. Each offer comes with the price the company will pay, and lists the requirements the company has for that offer. For example, the company may require 200 words and the placement of links in your post. Of course, they want you to spell check! PPP also requires that you post things other than paid posts, and limits the number of posts you can do per day. This keeps the system fair for everyone.

I like the fact that if you’d like, you can donate the proceeds of any/all your posts to charity. I might do that in the future, but right now, the charity is ME! I need to be making about $30,000 per year, but I really don’t want to go back to “work” – I love the flexibility I have working from home. I’m not sure I’ll make all $30,000 at PPP (not sure I won’t, either!), but I’m sure I’ll have fun doing it!

Be sure to check them out! :)
